padmashri bharat mohanlal born in Elanthur in pathinamthitta district on may 21 1960.

A two time nationol award winner. Lal is famous for his versatility and natural acting style.

His notable films include Nadodikattu,Devasuram,Kireedam,Bharatham,Vanaprastham and Thanmatra.

He studied in Model school trivandrum. After schooling he joined M.G College trivandrum for his bachellor degree. It was here that he met priyadarshan, m.g sreekumar,raju.

Lal's first film was Thiranottam(1978).It was never released. His breakthrough came in 1980,at the age of 20 in Manjil virinja pookal. He then acted in films written by noted script-writer M.T Vasudevan nair.He then expanded into comic roles in his friend priyadarshan's film.

1986 was one ohis best years. sathyan anthikad's T.P Balagopalan M.Agot him his firstKerala State Award for best actor. His role of an under world don in Rajavinte makan raise him as leading star along with Mammooty.

In 2002 lal acted in first bollywood movie Company. His first tamil film was Maniratnam's Iruvar.

In that film he acted as MGR.

Vanaprastam directed by Shaji n karun gave him international recognition.It won him second National Award for best actor.In 2006, the film thanmatra won him the Kerala state award for best actor for portraying a person affected by Alzheimer's disease.

His new film Madambi is a big hit.

His new ventures are kurukshetra and Swapnamalika. After that he'll act in Amal neerad'sa film SAGAR ALIAS JACKY.

Lal married Balaji's daughter Suchithra.Lal have son and daughter.

He started post production studio Vismaya Max at kazhakootam.He own a pickles and curry powder industry.
